Silk Scarf Care Instructions
Washing
Preferred care: gentle hand wash or professional dry cleaning for premium/dark/multicolour prints.
Water: cold to lukewarm (≈20–30°C).
Detergent: silk/wool-specific or neutral pH (e.g., baby shampoo). No chlorine/bleach/enzymatic agents.
Process
Fill a basin and dissolve the detergent.
Submerge the scarf for 3–5 minutes max, agitating gently (do not rub or wring).
Rinse with clean water. Optional final rinse with 1 tbsp white vinegar per liter to balance pH and restore sheen.
Stains: blot, don't rub. For oily stains, apply talc/cornstarch for ~20′, then rinse gently.
Do not soak for long (risk of colour bleed).
Drying
Never wring or twist. Press out excess water gently.
Lay on a clean towel, roll to absorb, then dry flat in the shade, away from sun/radiators.
No tumble dryer.
Ironing / Steaming
Temperature: low (Silk setting, 1 dot).
Iron on the reverse or with a pressing cloth. Light steam is fine—avoid excess.
Rolled hems: do not flatten; press around them, not directly over them.
Storage
Store only when clean & completely dry.
Keep in a fabric pouch/cotton bag or wrapped in acid-free tissue.
Avoid plastic bags long term (they trap moisture).
Away from sunlight/humidity/heat. For insects, prefer cedar/lavender (not mothballs).
Ideally fold or roll; don't hang from a corner for long periods (distortion).
Helpful Tips
Apply perfume/creams/hairspray first, then wear the scarf - alcohols can dull silk.
Mind jewellery/zippers that may snag fibres.
In rain/humidity, blot gently and let it dry flat.
For travel, roll it loosely; on arrival, hang in the bathroom to relax with steam.
